In the context of this lab session, our flight crew diligently engaged in a comprehensive review of the Skydio training modules. After this thorough review, we ventured into the field to engage in practical flight exercises focused on honing our proficiency in executing cinematic maneuvers using the Skydio drone platform.
The Skydio cinematic skill set, a pivotal component of our training, encompasses a range of advanced flight techniques, including but not limited to:
Motion Track: This maneuver entails dynamic tracking of a moving subject, enabling the drone to autonomously follow and maintain focus on the designated target.
Fixed Track: In this mode, the drone maintains a stable and fixed position relative to the subject, facilitating the capture of compelling, steady shots.
Orbit Subject: The drone orbits around a specified subject, enabling the creation of captivating circular or elliptical footage.
Cable: This technique involves the drone traversing along a predetermined path, often resembling a virtual cable or guide, allowing for consistent and precise movements.
Hover: The drone maintains a stationary position in the air, facilitating the capture of stable and static imagery.
Keyframe: Keyframe-based flight involves defining specific waypoints and actions for the drone to follow, facilitating the creation of intricate and customizable flight paths.
In addition to practical training, our team produced concise video demonstrations showcasing the execution of each of these cinematic skills. These exercises collectively contributed to our skill development and proficiency in leveraging the capabilities of the Skydio drone for cinematic applications.
